“ The feeling of standing solidly, on my own two feet, of running, running like flying. The dreams of hovering, of flying as though gravity has been rescinded and now is allowing me to be removed from the earth a safe distance ”
Henry, The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger
“ I can feel the cold dry air in my lungs, feel my heart serenely pounding, and as I reach North Avenue I am feeling good and I start to speed up. Running is many things to me: survival, calmness, euphoria, solitude. It is proof of my corporeal existence, my ability to control my movement through space if not time, and the obedience, however temporary, of my body to my will. ”
Henry in The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger.
“ Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worse kind of suffering. ”
Paulo Coehlo
“The only thing it ever taught me was a grand illusion
That comes and goes, the city blanketed of snow”

Crude (just watched it on Netflix)
a documentary about the Chevron/Texaco oil company vs. the Ecuador natives court case. It’s Chevron’s 23 years of occupation in Ecuador and extraction of the local oil resulting in contamination of the native people’s drinking water. Even with overwhelming evidence, like the visible gas reflection in the local streams, Chevron claims that they lay no responsibility for the sludge they produced that continues to run into the soil and drinking water.
It’s inspiring that Ecuador is being represented the indigenous people and a native lawyer (living in a two-room house) and has the ability to fight the corruption, wealth, and resources of a large corporation. It’s been a 13 years of legal activity, and even with the court deciding Chevron “guilty” with $8.6 billion dollars asked for remediation (below the $26 billion originally asked and needed), they refuse to pay.
The struggle continues…
